TEFL

The acronym TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. It’s sometimes also referred to as TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). The term TEFL is popular in the UK and USA and the term TESOL is more commonly used in Canada, Australia and South Africa.

Due to the increasing needs for a commercially globalised world to be able to communicate in English, it is estimated that more than 1 billion people are learning English throughout the world today. Your knowledge of English and the ability to use the language is now a valuable global commodity, and, there is a huge demand for TEFL teachers in almost all parts of the world, with demand increasing every year.

The TOEFL test measures the ability of non-native English speakers to use and understand English as it’s read, written, heard and spoken in the university classroom.

Format Sections

The TOEFL test measures all four English-language skills. It takes about four hours.

The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) is « an English language test designed specifically to measure the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment. » There are different forms of the exam: The TOEIC Listening & Reading Test consists of two equally graded tests of comprehension assessment activities totaling a possible 990 score; There are also the TOEIC Speaking and Writing Tests. The TOEIC speaking test is composed of tasks that assess pronunciation, intonation and stress, vocabulary, grammar, cohesion, relevance of content and completeness of content. The TOEIC Writing test is composed of tasks that assess grammar, relevance of sentences to the pictures, quality and variety of sentences, vocabulary, organization, and whether the opinion is supported with reason and/or examples. Both assessments use a score scale of 0 – 200.

DCL is a diploma from the French Ministry of Education that validates your professional language skills, i.e. a diploma that certifies your level of English in a professional environment.

 

It values the candidate’s personal and professional experience, with a view to European mobility

 

At present, the DCL covers the German, English, Spanish and Italian languages. It is divided into 5 degrees, which are themselves anchored on the scale of levels of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

 

 

DEFL (Diplôme d’études en langue française ) is a certification of French-language abilities for non-native speakers of French administered by the International Centre for French Studies for France’s Ministry of education. It is composed of four independent diplomas corresponding to the first four levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages : A1, A2, B1 and B2.
