During adulthood, the reasons to learn languages change and are sometimes connected:

  • For work, such as for getting a job (wider job opportunities, being comfortable in international jobs)
  • For an immigration project (moving to the USA or the UK for example)
  • For tourist purposes (better enjoy during these trips by interacting with the inhabitants of the region)
  • For studies and research (such as access to documents in a foreign language)

And to be more precise, what does learning a language

 offer?

When one decides to learn a foreign language as an adult, it is often for a specific purpose. As a result, the pedagogy used must be conscientiously chosen.
For a good teacher and effective learning, it’s obligatory for the teacher to have at least a recognized teacher diploma (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA …) and several years of experience.
The goal is for the teacher to help his students rise to the top. This can only be achieved by immersing them constantly in the language of instruction and creating a real dialogue. Using lessons adapted to the students goals and interests allows them to easily grasp a new language.

Another word of advice is to find a native teacherIndeed, a native teacher of the chosen language will allow you to go much further and faster in your learning. You will learn expressions that are current, or hear the appropriate accent. A native of a country, a language, will naturally transmit some automatisms that will make you quickly comfortable with his language!

You can also join conversation groups or participate in group language courses . These will allow you to gain in oral fluency . Thanks to these different interactive sessions, you will be brought to discuss topics that interest you (family, passions, etc.) but also around other topics such as news for example. Even if it’s a little stressful at first, these courses will only make you the best.
